MTV's first video...
Always heard that "Video Killed The Radio Star" by the Buggles was the first video that ever aired on MTV.  We didn't get MTV until a couple of years later where I lived, but I always wondered about that one.  Is it still in existence? Does VH-1 Classic ever show it?  I watch the "We Are The 80s" program while I'm working, but it never has aired in the last two or three months (to my knowledge).

I was wondering if anyone had recorded the replaying of MTV's first day on air that was shown on VH1 Classic on August 1,2006 and has any extra copies on CD-R or DVD format.I unfortunately was watching that day but couldn't get my DVR to record.I've been downloading videos from that first telecast from YouTube but would like the first day in it's entirety.Thank you.

I have a huge collection of 80's music videos recorded from VH1 Classic channel over the last 4 years on DVD's. Glad I did because the channel doesn't play nearly enough music videos anymore and I'm not happy about it. Come on, VH1 Classic, quit playing all the movies, docs, specials, etc. and give us MORE VIDEOS!!!! WE STILL WANT OUR MUSIC VIDEOS! PLEASE!!

i think the very first video i seen on MTV that i can remember was "Jeopardy" by the Greg Kihn Band. its very sad what MTV has turned into! in the last 10 years the best stuff on mtv is Jackass, Viva La Bam, Rob & big, NItro Circus and Fantasy Factory! very few stuff anymore. maybe, just like vh1 classic, there will be an MTV classic channel comin out! where its all 80s and early 90s stuff including the commercials as well!

hi why wouldn't you say it (the url)? is it illegal ? i think not
is it maybe that thrawn03 guy ? i'm always looking for guys who sell mtv 80s material

btw the only good musicvideos are from the 80s and early 90s so it doesn't even matter that there's no musicclips shown anymore - i mean it's either reality shows or justin timberlake these days so who even cares - we got mtv very late (maybe 95 - 97 ) i never watched a second on it while i am the biggest fan of 80s vids ...
    today is just sad

I was a teenager when MTV started... and I was a junkie. It is truly sad what they have turned it into. On the video question... I don't know if they ever show it. I do have it on my iPod... so I listen to it every once and awhile to remember that moment I started watching MTV. I use to somewhere have a poster of the MTV flag being stuck in the moon by that astronaut. Another plesant memory of when things were much better on MTV.

I love when you see Martha Quinn, Mark Goodman and Allan Hunter (? I think that was his name) on things.

I do have to admit though on VH1 I do like Celebrity Fit Club and Celebrity Rehab. I would like more music and less of the other shows but I do enjoy those two.

While I am venting... they need to redo that whole countdown show. One that host Allison drives me crazy, two there are types of music that don't belong on VH1 and last but not least it is completly bogus and rigged.

Regular MTV and VH1 blow chunks--either it is tuneless/tonedeaf morons who sound like they are singing out of their butt--or it craprap and hiphop--bah humbug! I would like to vh1 classic replace regular vh1 on basic cable--both mtv and vh1 are so pornographic they belong on payforview! Long live rock N Roll!

I came back to the MTV thing and didn't recognize it at all. There isn't any music there-what happened? I remember watching the best videos ,creative and innovative and now they have talk shows and things like soap operas. Can't wrap my mind around that one! I thought that when I turned it on, I would be seeing some great music and there would be better videos, with the onset of CGI, but, much to my dismay, I found that there are very few music videos and they are kind of lame. I hope that the people who are in the music business start to smarten up and realize that it is MUSIC videos that we want and not another soap opera.

MTV sucks but MTV Classic Rock does, MTV is supposed to bring music to the people not stupid kiddie shows like "The Hills" or "Paris Hilton's BFF" those are not shows but a waste of time for us mature veiwers. I want more Def Leppard, Aerosmtih videos please put me out of my distress and help a lady out by playing more of those artists, even more Tom Petty would be nice as well.

Anyone remember randomly getting those free weekends of M2 (now MTV2)? So many obscure videos I'd never even heard of! I used to watch for hours scared that I would miss something if I left the room. Not sure what is meant by "black hip hop trash" Big Dave but even VH1 Classic plays old school hip hop now and then which I think is very cool.
