Metal & Zeppelin

Could someone please tell me why Zeppelin is not even mentioned in any of the "metal" shows and documentaries?

Zeppelin is not considered metal? They can't get permission to use Zeppelin songs? Led Zeppelin is topic by themselves? (my local classic rock radio station thinks so - all zeppelin all the time)

Zeppelin's & Sabbath's formula were the basic blue print of what later became know as metal. Though on the heavy side IMO Black Sabbath were the first to take heavy blues rock & make it pissed off & more abrasive then any one before them. Also Rush had a big impact on the technical elements of metal. But I don't think true metal came to being until bands like Judas Priest & Motorhead put all the elements together.

I'm not trying to piss anybody off, but would someone PLEASE explain all the attraction to Led Zepplin. I just don't get it. I'm not a fan and if I ever hear Stairway to Heaven again, I will pull my hair out. That song is so played!! What gives Zepplin fans? And I'm interested in serious relpies, not name calling haters.

They're either metal or hard rock, I don't know, but I have an Xbox 360 and I like to download songs from my albums and I listed Immigrant Song (which I downloaded from the Shrek the Third Soundtrack) under metal so i don't really care, I just like the song.

Triumph definitely was not an 80's band by that definition cgw.
The album Rock and Roll Machine was in 78. "Just a Game" was in 79
and had the songs Lay it on the line and Hold on. "Allied Forces"
was in 81 and had the hits Fight the good fight and Magic Power.
I don't know how you could "forget" them.

Maybe I think of Zeppelin I, II, and IV and everyone else thinks of later Zeppelin. Either way I think they were a lot more heavy metal influential than anyone else. They were a lot more "metal" than any hair band that I ever heard.
I have never thought of Rush as metal.
I had forgotten that there was even a band named Triumph. I wikipedia'ed them to see if I would regconize any songs. It looks like they were more 80's than 70's so I probably ignored them (like other 80's bands).
Deep Purple - yes.
Skynyrd - ?????????? - not in the most wide definition could Skynyrd be considered metal. (we are talking about Lynyrd Skynyrd - right?)

I think Zepp should definatly get some mention in metal. I think they helped metal just as much as sabbath did. I also think that if Def Lep, Winger, Whitesnake, Twisted Sister all of those 80s glam metal dudes can be called metal that most classic 70s bands should be called metal (zepp, rush, deep purple, skynyrd ect.

Zeppelin was one of the precursors of Metal. Rush is a
virtuoso band, fabulous musicians their sound is not at
all metal.(progressive rock) Triumph could be called a
classic rock/arena rock band. Too melodic for metal.
