Zeppelin is number 1, but the Clash should be up their too because Joe Strummer in my opinion had the best voice.

This is really difficult! I came up with a list of about 15 bands, but can't really narrow it down to 10. I'm not even saying that I particularyly like all of them, but it's hard to deny their influence over music today and in the past 20 or so years. I am NOT a Zeppelin fan and if I heat Stairway to Heaven on the radio I will change the station. But you CANNOT deny their influence. As for Poison, I left them off for one simple reason: The Unskinny Bop. Need I say more? And Kiss is a definite maybe, but the only artist I have ever heard say he was GREATLY influenced by them is Sebastian Bach, even though I do own some Skid Row. I'd like to hear from other musicians regarding the bands they are influenced by. The one band who was left off the VH1 list is Guns n Roses. You cannot deny their influence or their appeal, not to mention how unique and original they were and still are today (I'm talking original line up, now).
Let's hear from some musicians and artists and see who their greatest influences were.

Where the heck is GNR?

Quality hard rock, pop, band with even some New Wave/punk tendencies but not quite qualified to be included in a top 10.

Sabbath was more of a gimmick focused on the dark side which trickled down to other bands. After a while listening to songs about Satan and armegeddon gets kinds of old.

Im sure Aeromsith like the Rolling Stones have huge health care bills. Years of excessive chemical abuse will take it's toll on the body. They being millionares have the luxury to afford good care but they still could use more bucks!

Scorpions are very catchy but lack artistic growth. They've been making the same music for 20 years with cliched lyrics to boot. They are ok but nothing to rave about.

Poison, I dare to say may be better despite less material. Great hooks, versatile sounds, and solid lyrics. I still would not put them in a top 10 but they were a very good 80's metal band.

Aerosmith are survivors and have adapted and changed through the years. I may not like all of their material but I respect them. They possibly could be considered to be in the lower rung of the top 10 or just bubbling under.

It's is difficult to pick 10 bands. This debate will go on forever.

ZEPPLIN IS VERY OVERRATED. I WOULD SEE A VAN HALEN REUNION
WITH DIAMOND DAVE BEFORE I WOULD ZEPPLIN ANY DAY!
