I don't really listen to anything current.... tho there are a few exceptions of course. Like Depeche Mode and the Cure :P They're still making records thankfully.

As always the best music is played on public radio and college radio. Also in this era there is satellite. Bands or solo artist like Calexico, Drive By Truckers, Joseph Arthur, Wilco, Jim White, and others are making great music today. The artist mentioned are really just the tip of the iceberg. Get your head out of the sand. If you live in a decent sized city or even a small city, some club has a band playing that will blow you away. You have to find it.

Just like with music from the 50's to the 90's there is allot of good music & all of crap. You just need a open mind to find the good music that is out there. I was born too late for my favorite period in music from the mid 60's to the 70's. That is where my main influences both as a fan & musician came from. In my opinion the 60's was when rock truly came alive & into its own. The 70's was where my favorite genres of music came from. I believe progressive rock came into its own in the 70's & metal was born. I love the R&B,blues & jazz from the 50's & 60's because bands had more feelings in their music because they used real instruments.

As long as it's from the '60's and '70's, it's great.
